SUSTAINABLE LOCATION AIRPORTCITY VIENNA
The environment and sustainability are two important principles of environmental awareness at Vienna Airport. We constantly strive to reduce, or ideally entirely prevent any environmental problems by means of various measures.
SUSTAINABILITY CERTIFICATESThe numerous environmental certificates in connection with the business site at Vienna Airport demonstrate that the efforts are having extremely positive results.
DGNB /ÖGNI GOLD DISTRICT CERTIFICATION
Vienna Airport is the first industrial park to receive DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) sustainability certification from ÖGNI (Austrian Sustainable Building Council) in Austria. The location was assessed based on various factors, such as ecological and economic quality, as well as sociocultural and functional features.
The focus here is always on a holistic approach: Thus, various airport aspects, such as building and air-conditioning technology, measures to reduce energy consumption, recreation and living areas for people working on site, transport connections and much more were precisely analysed, assessed and ultimately brought together in a result for the entire location.
DGNB/ÖGNI PLATIN Pre-Certification
The new Vienna Airport Office Park already has PLATINUM DGNB/ÖGNI pre-certification.
Vienna Airport has been EMAS-certified since 2015.
GREEN BUILDINGComponents 1 & 2 of Vienna Airport are certified as Green Buildings.
Green Building was established by the European Commission in 2005 and it set itself the objective of optimising the use of economical energy-saving potentials.
Building owner. This label developed in the context of an EU programme exclusively concentrates on energy consumption and aims for a simple definition: In order to be a European Green Building, levels must fall below the national maximum permissible consumption targets of 25 percent (in Austria: OIB (Austrian Institute of Construction Engineering) guideline 6 or state building regulations).
